Hi Newport Church Family,

Spring is well and truly here, and before we know it, Summer will be too! As time may seem to be rushing by, let’s remember to thank God every single day for His new mercies every morning.

Last Sunday, Ps Jonathan brought a significant message entitled “Awakening to the Miraculous.” Three keys to awakening to the miraculous shared were: an encounter with God, an act of obedience, and an expression of thankfulness.

A much-loved tradition of our church is to write down miracles we are believing for, and this Sunday, we will be providing cards for everyone to pen their prayers.

Last May I was believing God for a specific miracle, and a year later, I am so thankful to God for answering my prayers!

English author John Milton writes, “Gratitude bestows reverence, allowing us to encounter everyday epiphanies, those transcendent moments of awe that change forever how we experience life and the world.”

Gratitude is what keeps the miracle alive in us. The key to living in our miracle rather than simply experiencing a miracle is thankfulness.

Sometimes we can have preconceived ideas about what our miracle will look like and when it should happen. That can lead to disappointment and loss of hope. The world tells us not to get our hopes up, but the Word of God tells us never to lose hope.

Believing for miracles requires us to be awakened to living in two worlds: the natural and supernatural.

French philosopher Pierre Teilhard de Chardin writes, “We are not human beings having a spiritual experience; we are spiritual beings having a supernatural experience.”

When we invite God’s infinite supernatural power to enter our lives, it changes everything.

Saint Augustine writes, “Miracles are not contrary to nature, but only contrary to what we know about nature.”

The dictionary describes the word miracle as “a surprising and welcome event that is not explicable by natural or scientific laws and is therefore considered to be the work of a divine agency. It is a highly improbable or extraordinary event that brings very welcome consequences.”

Father God wants to surprise us with miracles that surpass our expectations and understanding. He wants to do the improbable and extraordinary in our lives to bring us very welcome consequences.

The Apostle Paul is a tremendous example for us, as he writes the book of Philippians in prison. “Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need and thank Him for all He has done. Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand.”

God’s ear is inclined towards us, and He wants us to tell Him what we need and to thank Him for all He has done. As we think about the miracles we need, let’s always remember all the miracles God has done.

As we launch into Miracle May, we are praying for miracles in God’s House, your house, and your neighbor’s house.

When we invite God to fill our lives with His supernatural power, we know he can do a miracle in a moment that might otherwise take years. He can do a miracle in a second that might otherwise take decades. And He can do a miracle in an instant, that might otherwise take a lifetime.

Thank you for your loving faithfulness to the Lord and Newport Church - His Church.

With much LOVE always,

Ps Dianne Wilson x
